Answer:
A Solar Engineer in consulting provides independent technical analysis, design review, energy yield assessment, feasibility studies, and supports owners, lenders, and developers across project stages.
2. What factors influence solar energy yield?
Answer:
Key factors include irradiation, module orientation and tilt, shading, system losses, temperature, inverter efficiency, and degradation rates.
3. How do you perform energy yield assessment?
Answer:
By using simulation tools like PVsyst or SAM, validating inputs, applying loss assumptions, and generating P50/P75/P90 scenarios.
4. What is the importance of P50, P75, and P90 values?
Answer:
They represent probability-based energy outcomes used by lenders to assess project risk and financial viability.
5. What inputs are critical in PVsyst modeling?
Answer:
Meteo data, module and inverter selection, layout, shading analysis, system losses, and availability assumptions.
6. What is techno-commercial feasibility?
Answer:
It evaluates technical performance and financial viability by analyzing design options, CAPEX/OPEX, energy yield, and risks.
7. What is lender’s engineering?
Answer:
Lender’s engineering provides independent due diligence to lenders, reviewing design, contracts, schedules, and risks before financing.
8. How do you review a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)?
Answer:
By checking technical clauses such as performance guarantees, availability, curtailment, metering, and force majeure.
9. What is owner’s engineering?
Answer:
Owner’s engineering supports project owners with design review, construction monitoring, testing, and commissioning oversight.
10. What is the role of BESS in solar projects?
Answer:
BESS improves grid stability, peak shifting, energy arbitrage, and supports hybrid configurations.
11. What challenges do you face in detailed engineering?
Answer:
Site constraints, grid requirements, optimization trade-offs, and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
