🔎 Position Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising the electrical scope of solar PV projects at site level. This includes installation coordination, quality assurance, compliance monitoring, and commissioning support.

The role demands a proactive approach, strong coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple activities under strict project timelines. Since this is a site-based role, flexibility to travel and stay at project locations is essential.


⚡ Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Project Planning & Design Coordination

A solar plant’s success depends heavily on accurate design execution. As a Site Engineer, you will:

  • Coordinate with project managers and design teams.
  • Review electrical layouts, SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), and wiring diagrams.
  • Validate technical drawings before site execution.
  • Ensure that installation aligns with approved specifications.
  • Identify discrepancies between design and execution and suggest corrective actions.

Close coordination between engineering and site teams ensures smooth project progress and avoids costly rework.


2️⃣ Procurement & Material Management

Timely material availability plays a crucial role in maintaining project schedules.

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating with procurement teams for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Verifying materials received on site against BOQ and specifications.
  • Ensuring quality compliance of cables, inverters, transformers, and panels.
  • Monitoring stock levels and preventing shortages.
  • Maintaining proper storage conditions for sensitive equipment.

Effective material management directly impacts project timelines and cost efficiency.


3️⃣ Installation Supervision

One of the core responsibilities of this role is supervising electrical installation activities at ground-mounted solar sites.

You will oversee:

  • DC cable laying and termination.
  • AC cable routing and connectivity.
  • Inverter installation and alignment.
  • Transformer erection and connections.
  • Switchgear and control panel installation.
  • HT/LT electrical works.

Additionally, you will:

  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractors and skilled workforce.
  • Monitor productivity and daily targets.
  • Resolve site-level technical issues promptly.

Strong leadership and on-site decision-making skills are critical in this phase.


4️⃣ Testing, Commissioning & Energization

After installation, the next critical stage is testing and commissioning.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Conducting pre-commissioning electrical checks.
  • Performing insulation resistance tests and continuity tests.
  • Supporting plant energization procedures.
  • Assisting in grid synchronization activities.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting electrical faults.
  • Coordinating with internal and external technical teams.

A smooth commissioning process ensures the plant transitions successfully from construction to operational stage.


5️⃣ Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Solar projects must meet strict regulatory and technical standards.

You will ensure compliance with:

  • Applicable electrical safety codes.
  • State electricity board and DISCOM requirements.
  • Project-specific technical standards.

Maintaining inspection records, quality checklists, and compliance documentation is an important part of the job.


6️⃣ Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management

Key responsibilities include:

  • Enforcing site safety policies.
  • Conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Ensuring safe execution of HT/LT operations.
  • Monitoring use of PPE.
  • Preventing unsafe practices during installation and testing.

7️⃣ Documentation & Reporting

Accurate documentation helps maintain transparency and project control.

You will:

  • Maintain Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
  • Prepare commissioning reports.
  • Compile as-built documentation.
  • Report risks and delays to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain project records for audit and compliance purposes.

🎓 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ground-mounted solar PV projects.
  • Practical exposure to solar EPC execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret SLDs and technical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel and stay at project sites.
